VisitEngland has recently launched its new pub accreditation scheme, developed in partnership with the British Beer and Pub Association, and the team had fun promoting it at their exhibition stand at this year’s popular PubUK show, held at Olympia on 9 – 10 February. We fielded dozens of enquiries and will be busy following up over the next few weeks.
There seems to be a considerable appetite among pub managers of all descriptions for mystery visits by experienced assessors, followed by the professional debrief and subsequent detailed written report. For those pubs which pass the assessment and achieve accreditation they are entitled to display a plaque and scheme logo on their website and social media. They also receive a dedicated business-focussed magazine and for the very best performers, the opportunity to be put forward for a national accolade, with attendant publicity.
YMM has entered its third year of working with VisitEngland as one its major clients. Most of the work involves YMM’s Managing Director and Principal Consultant Alex Youel providing a quality assessment service for visitor attractions throughout London and the South East. In 2016 this service is expanding to embrace selected racecourses and now, in the latest development, the new pub scheme. Looks like a busy year ahead!
